O Adonai, and leader of the House of Israel, who appeared to Moses in the fire of the burning bush and gave him the law on Sinai: Come and redeem us with an outstretched arm.

Adonai – meaning master or lord is one of the name for God in Hebrew. Lord is a name we use to address God quite often, especially in prayer. Lordship is associated with power, and in human history power is often misused. As the section from Isaiah, above, states God’s Lordship is not about ‘lording it’ over God’s people but about justice, equality and faithfulness.
